Marousi is a city within a city, combining neighbourhood life and local shops with large green spaces, shopping destinations and an important business district. For Athmonon guests, this variety means a day can begin with a walk, continue with a business meeting and end with dinner in the historic centre.
From ancient Athmonon to today’s Marousi
The area’s history is linked to the ancient deme of Athmonon and the worship of Artemis Amarysia. Farming, water carriers and pottery left their mark on the modern town. Marousi is also associated with Spyridon Louis, winner of the marathon at the 1896 Olympic Games. Behind today’s commercial and business activity lies a history spanning many centuries, well worth discovering on foot.

The pedestrian streets around Ermou and Dionysou are a good introduction to Marousi. Small shops, cafés and meeting places give a walk the rhythm of a lively neighbourhood. Combine shopping with a meal and look for older buildings among the newer façades. Marousi station on Line 1 is a useful landmark when visiting the centre.

Syngrou Estate covers around 95 hectares on the borders of Marousi, Kifisia and Melissia. Pine woodland, varied vegetation and cultivated areas bring nature into the city. It is an option for walking or gentle exercise, especially to discover the greener side of Anavryta. Choose the entrance that suits your route and check the Institute of Agricultural Sciences’ announcements before setting out.

The shopping centre The Mall Athens is served by Neratziotissa station, with a pedestrian bridge to the shopping centre. Golden Hall, at 37A Kifisias Avenue, and AVENUE, also along Kifisias, offer further shopping options. These destinations differ from the open-air shopping streets of the historic centre: choose according to the shops and services you need. Check each centre’s opening times, entrances and parking facilities.
The city’s business side
Marousi is an important business destination with corporate offices and modern complexes, including PwC – The Circle, Kaizen Campus and Neratziotissa Office Complex. They are not all in the historic centre, so confirm the exact address, visitor entrance and parking before each meeting. Choose your station or final taxi journey according to the particular building.

Kifisias Avenue is a key orientation axis, while Attiki Odos links the area to Attica’s wider road network and the airport direction. Neratziotissis and Amarysias Artemidos streets also serve the shopping districts. Attiki Odos is a toll road. Check traffic and your destination’s entrance before leaving: access to a car park may differ from the pedestrian entrance.

The Line 1, Piraeus–Kifisia, serves Marousi at Marousi and Neratziotissa stations. It provides access to central Athens, including Monastiraki, and connections to other lines. Neratziotissa also connects to suburban rail services towards the airport. Check current schedules and the correct ticket before travelling. For a flight, allow extra time to reach the station from your home and for waiting.
Buses, walking and accessibility
Buses complete journeys to destinations away from stations. OASA’s real-time service helps with route selection and arrivals. In the historic centre, favour pedestrian streets; when crossing major roads, use designated crossings. If using a wheelchair or travelling with a pushchair and luggage, check lift operation and the final stretch of your route before leaving.
Culture and small discoveries
The Historical and Folklore Museum introduces local daily life and traditions. The Natural History Museum is another option, especially for visitors interested in nature. Athmonon.com will present each home, its actual photographs and amenities. Direct booking and a presence on selected platforms are planned. Partnerships and distribution terms will be finalised before opening.
Unified availability
Channel organisation will provide a shared view of bookings and availability, so updates can be checked and overlaps avoided. The booking system will be selected before sales begin.
Guest care
Confirmation of stay details, arrival and access instructions, support during the stay and an organised departure.
Daily management
PPO is expected to coordinate cleaning, linen changes, equipment checks and maintenance. Tracking these tasks supports preparing each home for the next guest.

Why choose Athmonon accommodation?
Athmonon is designed for people who want to experience Marousi through its neighbourhoods: the historic centre with its shops and meeting places, or the more residential Anavryta area. The concept combines small homes with individual character, access to northern Athens’ activities and design focused on responsible energy and water use. It may suit a leisure visit or a business trip to Marousi. The properties are in the design phase; final amenities will be presented before bookings open.
How do I reach the homes from the airport?
Consider the suburban rail connection to Neratziotissa and onward travel to your particular home, or choose a taxi or car. The best route depends on the accommodation, luggage and arrival time. Check current timetables with Hellenic Train. Exact directions to each home’s entrance will be added when operations begin.
How can I get around Marousi and Athens?
Marousi and Neratziotissa stations on Line 1 serve central Athens and connections to other lines. Buses and taxis complete journeys to places further from stations. Where can I have lunch or dinner?
For a neighbourhood outing, look for dining options in the historic centre around the pedestrian streets of Ermou and Dionysou. Combine a meal with browsing local shops. For dining alongside shopping, consider the shopping centres too. Before going, confirm lunch or dinner kitchen hours, reservation requirements and any dietary needs directly with the venue.
Where can I sit down for a coffee?
The historic centre’s pedestrian streets are a good starting point for choosing a café and watching everyday city life. Choose a spot in the sun, shade or indoors. Do I need a car? Is there parking?
Whether you need a car depends on your journeys. For the historic centre and places near stations, consider public transport. For business meetings in different locations, plan each leg separately. Private parking has not yet been confirmed as an amenity. Available options and parking conditions will be clarified for each home before bookings open.
Which home best suits my trip?

What can I do in my free time?
Combine the historic centre, Syngrou Estate, museums and shopping according to your interests. The “What’s on today” page lists events with separate labels for Marousi and central Athens. Check the official event source before visiting.
Can I book now? Are the photographs real?
Bookings have not opened. The homes are in the design phase and their images are illustrative architectural renderings. The calendars contain fictional bookings for demonstration and do not indicate real availability. Actual photographs, prices and booking terms will be published once the works are complete.
What are the arrival and departure times? Are pets allowed?
Check-in and check-out times, key collection, pet policy, cancellation terms and accessibility information have not yet been finalised. They will be clearly stated for each home before bookings become available.
